7,500 Marriages from Old Ninety-Six & Abbeville District, S.C., (1774-1890

A list of marriages of persons who lived in Old Abbeville district prior to 1900. Includes maiden names, and names from previous marriages. These marriage records have been taken from the individual files and packets in the Abbeville Courthouse, and from copies of legal records for Old 96 on deposit in the S.C. Archives, as well as from the newspaper notices in early local papers. All sources are cited so that the researcher may document his work. Since VITAL RECORDS were not kept in S.C. until the 20th century, this book becomes a very valuable tool for research in this area.
