This map is waterproof and tear-resistant, highly suitable for tropical conditions, durable enough to survive time spent in the rucksack, pocket or on a restaurant table. It has a convenient sheet size (100 x 70 cm / 39.5 x 27.5 in) with topographic and tourist information.

The map is detailed enough to make an essential companion. It shows points of interests from ancient buildings to national parks and there is a host a practical detail including contour lines, road numbers, distance markers, road surfaces, airports, train stations and ferry routes.

The map has altitude colouring with spot heights and names of hills and mountain ranges, plateaux, valleys, etc. Swamps, mangroves, sandy areas, waterfalls and hot springs are indicated. Detailed road network and railways are easy to see on the base map, and local airports and airfields are marked. Nature reserves are highlighted, and symbols show locations of forts and palaces, temples and other religious buildings, natural curiosities, beaches, etc. The map has a latitude and longitude grid at intervals of 1° and an index of place names.

Names of main towns are also shown in Sinhala / Tamil, with all other place names only in Latin alphabet. Multilingual legend includes English, high quality German cartography.
