This book is an illustrated guide to assistive technologies and devices (AT/AD). It chronicles the use of AT/AD - technology used by individuals with disabilities to perform functions that might otherwise be difficult or impossible. In general, AT can include mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs, as well as hardware, software, and peripherals that assist people with disabilities in accessing computers or other information technologies. Advanced AT has coincided with the advent of personal electronic devices that could be customized for use, such as computers and smart phones.
