Alice (Brittany Murphy), a writer recovering from a psychological breakdown, moves to a remote Victorian mansion to recover and to finish her screenplay. Once there, a series of strange events, sounds and apparitions occur. Alice searches the house for the source, finding a collection of disturbing videotapes in the attic. Alice sets forth to uncover the mysterious story of the couple on the tapes, leading her into a terrifying spiral as she tries to discover the deadly secret that lies in the house.
