Professor Grover has a very specific lesson plan for teaching his preschool class about the alphabet, and the preparation entails finding something that starts with every letter of the alphabet. The professor has some trouble remembering the order of the letters and finding an item for each letter, but luckily his assistant Elmo comes to the rescue. Interspersed throughout Grover and Elmo's lesson are several renditions of the alphabet song in a variety of styles, plus a handful of Sesame Street vignettes, including Telly's membership in the Letter of the Month Club, his stint as a contestant on the "Hurry Up, You're Running Out of Time Show," a letter circus, and Dr. Grover playing the role of an alphabet specialist in the hit show "A's Anatomy."
