What is Gold Overlay? Gold overlay is also called gold Bonding, Rolled gold or gold Filled. It is a technique used chiefly to make jewelry by combining gold with another metal. Gold overlay jewelry is a less expensive alternative to pure gold jewelry, but it has the same luster and lasts as long as the real thing. However not all Gold Bonding is created equal. All of our Gold products are Gold Bonded with 50 mils (or layers) of pure Gold. The first 25 layers are of 24k pure Gold. The second 25 layers are of 14k or 18k pure Gold, depending on the item. So, the concentration of Gold in all of our products is a 24k concentration, yet with the highly marketable colors of 14k and 18k Gold.
