Description

  • Land on ladders to race ahead… or land on chutes and slide back
  • No reading required to play
  • Comes with game board, spinner and 4 game pieces
  • It’s the classic up-and-down game, featuring Dora the Explorer and all her friends

The classic Chutes and Ladders game has a new twist! Dora, beloved explorer extraordinaire, competes with amigos Diego, Boots, and Backpack & Map to be the first to reach the fiesta. It’s the same basic board game as the original: players spin a spinner, then move their pawns the number of spaces indicated. If they reach the base of a ladder, up they go. If they reach the top of a chute, see ya later! Down they slide. Illustrations on the Dora version show the Nick Jr. characters engaging in naughty or nice behavior, depending on whether they’re at a chute or ladder, and the resulting consequences or rewards: Swiper the fox tries to sneak away with a cookie jar…and ends up at the bottom of the chute with a pile of shards and broken cookies. But really, the game is as simple as it seems, no skill involved (except counting). Just spin the dial, and hope to land on a ladder! Game includes 100-squared board, spinner, four sturdy plastic Dora the Explorer character pawns (a definite improvement over the flimsy cardboard ones), and instructions in English and Spanish. --Emilie Coulter
