Product Description
BABY BLUE 1967 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE 1:18 DIE CAST MODEL 1967. Hair opened off-Broadway. "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "White Rabbit" topped the charts. There was war in Vietnam, love in San Francisco, and in Germany, Volkswagen created the 1967 Beetle 1300--now considered by collectors to be the most desirable of all Beetles. This icon of the automotive world is reproduced here as a die-cast metal 1:18 scale model. The 9-inch-long Beetle is painted as it might have been by the hippies who often drove this inexpensive set of wheels: flowers, peace symbols, and slogans like "Flower Power" adorn the roof, hood, and doors. The model's features are characteristic of the attention to detail and technical accuracy that Yat Ming is known for: doors open, seatbacks adjust, the front hood lifts to reveal a spare tire, and the engine is tucked in the back. While the car is safe for children over 8 to play with, it's really more for collectors, as evidenced by the handsome display stand to which it's bolted. --Lisa Whipple
