U2 fined for excessive noise in Dublin
Famous for their antics, activism and Bono, U2 have gone over the top once again. The band has received a £33,125 fine for excessive noise levels during their Croke Park shows in Dublin over the European summer.
Promoters received the fine after many of the capital’s citizens complained to the Dublin City Council which lead to an investigation. According to the findings, the four-piece played louder than regulations permitted a grand total of 12 times during the performances. The level set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), requires that noise levels don’t exceed 75 decibels.
Not very well received in their home country, Dubliners complained previously that there were almost 100 truck traversing the narrow lanes surrounding the concert venues. But according to some, the costs involved in pacifying the disgruntled and calming down protests, are par for the course and probably worked into the mega-stars’ budget when planning such concerts.
Whatever the complaint, it provides accurate testimony for the U2’s unforgettable concerts.
