479° founder Jean Arnold became obsessed with popcorn during childhood. Her mom refused to serve anything other than organic popcorn cooked in a sturdy stove-top popper that she'd hand crank until the kernels turned into a delightful fluffy treat. Long after she left home, Jean treasured memories of those cozy evenings spent playing cards and munching fresh popcorn. Then, as now, she knows that a bowl of popcorn can turn an ordinary moment into a special occasion.

479 Degrees: The Perfect Temperature for Popping Corn

Over the years, founder Jean Arnold experimented with making her own organic popcorn. She flavored it with exciting gourmet seasonings inspired by her international upbringing and training at Le Cordon Bleu in London. In the process, she discovered that 479 degrees Fahrenheit is the perfect temperature for popping corn. She knew immediately that this would be the name of her company. The name 479 Degrees reflects the careful attention to detail that Jean and her team work so hard to incorporate into every single element of the business, from pristine ingredients to beautiful packaging, to a passion for satisfied customers.
