If I run into you in a coffeehouse, say, and you ask me how old my baby is and then tell me youâ€™re struggling to get pregnant, Iâ€™ll tell you all about how we ultimately conceived and why you may want to consider egg donation yourself. (This scenario has happened more than once.) But I canâ€™t ask my baby if she minds if I write about her. She would probably say, da da da da pffffft, and that doesnâ€™t qualify as permission. I want to protect her privacy, not to mention to protect her from the potential cat scratches of the comments section. Besides, this isn't really my story anymore. Itâ€™s hers, thank goodness. All hers.
