Profit incentives from the fair partnership fund community health and education projects, as well as infrastructure to increase the community's capacity to produce marketable products. Atacora collaborates with local government, NGOs and village groups on co-created microprojects that improve the living and working conditions of communities in Benin.

Because our products are lightly processed using traditional methods, our levels of vitamins, essential nutrients and purity are unmatched.

Harvest is done BY HAND with HOMEMADE KNIVES. Harvesters make sheaves and set them to dry. They construct a platform where adolescents stomp the sheaves to remove the grain. It is then winnowed in traditional flat basketry.

Fonio has long been used as friendly food because it is low in glycemic index. It is slowly absorbed in the body and therefore its effect on blood sugar is very gradual. Fonio is a rare, ancient grain, originating from small pockets throughout Africa.
