The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards have served in all the major theatres of war during the past two centuries and are a first-class cavalry unit in their own right.

The Queen's piper Derek Potter (formerly Pipe major RSDG) sums up the role of the pipes & drums today: "The pipes are an integral part of the regiment, who take huge pride in their music. They are always excited to share this music with the wider world at every opportunity." When not fulfilling military commitments the band tours the world playing at public events and competitions.
