The NS18-992-4A is the best 18" home subwoofer that we know of.Â The powerful NRT neodymium magnet system provides such a fast and long stroke that you feel like you're listening to a wall of woofers.Â The bass is tight, accurate and real. People are using it open baffle, sealed or ported. Power handling open baffle would not be as great if it is in a cabinet. Cabinet suggestions: 3dB down of 35Hz in 4.5 to 6 cubic feet sealed and stuffed for super tight and fast bass. The F6 in this box is 25Hz, so using a plate amplifier like the Hypex DS8.0 with adjustable boost should get you down to 20Hz if you wish. We prefer to stay around 30hz as lower frequencies tend to vibrate objects in the room and cause a distraction.
