Hang from a rope and let the piÃ±ata fun begin. For ages 5 and up. Size: 19-1/2"L x 13"W x 3-1/2"H. Give that piÃ±ata a good whack with the PiÃ±ata Buster Bat. It is lightweight, sturdy and comes in a brightly striped pattern to match all varieties of piÃ±ata. For ages 5 and up. Size: 18"L. How To Play: Before the party, locate the fill hole in the piÃ±ata. Fill the piÃ±ata with up to 2 lbs of candy and small prizes. Hang the piÃ±ata low enough so that everyone can reach a string. Have the children sit or stand in a circle around the piÃ±ata. Allow each child (youngest goes first) to take turns using the PiÃ±ata Bat Buster. A piÃ±ata is a brightly colored papier-mÃ¢chÃ© covering either a clay container or cardboard shape. It supposedly started with Chinese farmers that used similar objects to the piÃ±ata in ceremonies to ensure a fruitful harvest. Around the 16th century, Spanish missionaries introduced the piÃ±ata to the Aztec Indians in Mexico. In the ceremonies, the missionaries filled the piÃ±atas with fruit, candy and coins to represent temptations as they tried to convert the Aztecs to Christianity. PiÃ±atas have become popular at birthday parties in Latin America and the United States. They come in all shapes, sizes and colors and are filled with candy, toys, confetti and more. At the party the piÃ±ata is suspended from a rope and children, usually blind folded, take turns hitting it with a stick until it breaks and treats falls out.
