Requirement of PD power supply
Check the output power and voltage:
12V or 15V output is must
29W or greater for Surface Pro M3, or Surface go
36W or greater for Surface pro and Surface laptop, 45W or 60W is recommended.
It charges slowly when powering the Surface Book with Performance Base or Surface Book 2 Core i7 models that ship with a 102-watt power supply.
Kindly remind: Not all USB type-c charger works with this dongle. Some charger comes with 5V, 9V and 20V, no 12V or 15V output. Some charger outputs 18W (for phone), it charges very slow and some model will shutdown due to overcurrent protect design.
About Apple Macbook power adapter
Some Apple PD power chargers has no 12v or 15v output, some new models have. Here is the list:
APPLE A1540 (29W) output: 5V/2.4A 14.5V/2A NOK (insufficient power for surface Pro but works with surface go and surface pro m3 model)
APPLE A1882 (30W) 5V/3A 9V/3A 15V/2A 20V/1.5A NOK (insufficient power for surface Pro but works with surface go and surface pro m3 model)
APPLE A1718(previous 61W) 5V/2.4A 9V/3A 20.3V/3A NOK (no 15V/12V output)
