From the personal collection of DGA Director Jack M. Sell: This "BUCK ROGERS" collection includes what we believe is an Original "Disintegrator" U-235 TOY Pistol. In 1935, Daisy produced a Buck Rogers gun, the XZ-38 Disintegrator Pistol that featured a fluted barrel and flamboyant fins. Produced in both nickel and copper finishes, the gun was sold in stores as well as merchandised as a Cream of Wheat premium in 1935 and a Popsicle premium in 1939. After World War II, Daisy used the existing tools and dies from the Disintegrator Pistol to create the U-235 Atomic Pistol, reflecting the current fascination with atomic energy and was available with a blue finish, unfinished steel or gold...it was an exclusive 1946 Christmas mail away item and probably the last Buck Rogers gun ever to be produced by Daisy. This TOY GUN is in used, but overall good condition, considering it is over 70 years old! The gun is displayed with an ORIGINAL Autographed Personal Hand-Written NOTE by the show's star, BUSTER CRABBE. COA UACC Registered Dealer #228, and descriptive brass plaque. AUTOGRAPHED NOTE and TOY GUN are beautifully displayed in this futuristic shadowbox with this great photograph of Buster Crabbe in his "Buck Rogers" role!
