Emd SD 40-2 DCC ready diesel locomotive - Norfolk Southern #6160 Thoroughbred - HO scale. The prototype for this model was one of EMD's best-selling locomotives of all time. Nearly 4, 000 units were built between 1972 and 1989. Over 30 railroads purchased some of them, and many are still in service today. They were perfect for mainline service and featured 3, 000 HP powered by a cylinder EMD 16-645-e3 Prime mover. One distinctive spotting feature is the longer than usual end platforms. Features include; DCC-ready with a factory-installed 8-pin plug for DCC decoder installation of your choice, operating headlights, all-wheel drive, precision can motor, dual, precision-balanced flywheels, die-cast chassis, fine scale handrails, blackened metal wheels, RP25 wheel contours, E-Z Mate mark II couplers, performs best on 18" Radius curves or greater.
