Let's face it; most of us aren't trained in the intricate art of Japanese tea ceremony. It takes years of practice and you're not quite ready for that. So what if you want to enjoy some of the organic health benefits of matcha?
If you want to:
+ Boost your energy without the jittery effects of coffee
+ Relieve stress naturally
+ Increase your antioxidant intake for overall wellbeing
...add a bit of Zen to your day. With the right tools, making matcha is a calming ritual; a way to unplug from the busy-ness of modern life. With these basic utensils, you'll look forward to making matcha part of your daily routine.
Chasen
Take the hand carved chasen out of the container and soak the prongs in cold water for a few minutes. Store your whisk on a stand or upright but never back in the container. Before each use, take a moment to inspect the whisk and remove any broken prongs to avoid a mishap. If you use your whisk daily, replace it every few months.
How to make matcha; add 175 degree water and whisk briskly in an "M" shape until frothy.
Clean the whisk under cold water. Gently rub the prongs to remove powder. Pat dry then air dry. The shape of your whisk will change over time. The knot will open and straighten after each use. This is expected.
Chashaku
The traditional scoop for measuring matcha. To start, use 2 scoops for every 2 oz of water and adjust for taste. To clean, wipe with a damp cloth. Do not use soap.
Sieve
The tea strainer removes clumps that make your drink taste bitter. Scoop matcha into the mesh and use the scoop to sift a fine powder that is easier to dissolve in water.
It's that simple! Makes a perfect gift for birthdays, clients, & holidays. Buy in bulk for your next tea party.
