Barksdale Air Force Base, LA Challenge Coin

This special coin commemorates Barksdale Air Force Base (AFB) and all of its "air warriors" for protecting our nation and its global interests with devastating B-52 combat capability and elite combat Airmen. Barksdale AFB is headquarters for the 2nd Bomb Wing, Eighth Air Force. It not only provides continuous combat capability, but trains all B-52 bomber combat crews. Barksdale AFB is the heart of America's worldwide bomber superiority.

The Barksdale Air Force Base challenge coin features that mission, a reproduction of the 2nd Bomb Wing's official patch which shows on the shield a hail of descending bombs, with the scroll "Libertatem Defendimus"-"Liberty We Defend." This handsome coin is highlighted with rich enamels and recessed semi-sandblasted metals. The reverse features the United States Air Force emblem, in classic blue and white.
