Humans are programmed to be active & awake when the sun is shining, & at home in bed when it is dark, at night. Exposure to sunlight increases the brain's release of a hormone called serotonin. This is associated with boosting mood & helping a person feel calm & focused. At night, darker lighting cues trigger the brain to produce another hormone called melatonin. This hormone is responsible for helping a person feel sleepy & to fall sleep. Without enough sunlight exposure, a person's serotonin levels can dip low. Low levels of serotonin can result in us feeling low, lethargic & tired.
Whether you suffer from jet lag, seasonal changes or sit in a dark office cubicle, our daylight lamp simulates the natural sunlight with a color temperature of 6500K & a light intensity of around 10,000 lux (recommended by clinicians) – normal electric light in the home or office has a lighting intensity of only 500 lux & is unable to affect hormonal balance. Because our Bright Light uses LED light technology, the TL30 has both a bright & even illumination through the screen, flicker-free & UV-free.
