Biomedical Optics: Principles and Imaging

This entry-level textbook, covering the area of tissue optics, isbased on the lecture notes for a graduate course (Bio-opticalImaging) that has been taught six times by the authors at TexasA&M University. After the fundamentals of photon transport inbiological tissues are established, various optical imagingtechniques for biological tissues are covered. The imagingmodalities include ballistic imaging, quasi-ballistic imaging(optical coherence tomography), diffusion imaging, andultrasound-aided hybrid imaging. The basic physics and engineeringof each imaging technique are emphasized.
