This elbow counterforce brace features a simple, wrap-around design and helps in treating elbow tendonitis such as tennis elbow or golfer's elbow. Golfer's elbow and tennis elbow are two types of elbow tendonitis, more specifically known as medial epicondylitis and lateral epicondylitis. The difference has to do with whether the irritated area is at inner (medial) or outer (lateral) side of the elbow. Overusing or repetitive motions can cause such flexion and extension motions that irritate the tendon where it inserts to the bone, causing inflammation and small tears. A counterforce brace is used to reduce the tension on the tendons by transferring force farther down the arm, reducing pressure on the painful area around one's elbow. It is recommended that patients place the brace slightly below the painful area. Using this brace can help to decrease pain and increase grip strength.
