Brahms: Piano Concerto No. 1

This recording is outstanding on a number of levels: It marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration between Christian Thielemann, the Dresden Staatskapelle and Deutsche Grammophon.

It brings together two musical giants for their first joint Deutsche Grammophon recording. In June this year, after an absence of a quarter-century, the legendary Maurizio Pollini returned to Dresden's Semperoper to play Brahms's First Piano Concerto under the baton of Christian Thielemann. Not at all surprisingly, they brought down the house.
