In partnership with acclaimed maestro Sir Antonio Pappano, Decca s best-known violinist Janine Jansen couples one of the best-loved violin concertos ever written the Brahms violin concerto with Bartok s first violin concerto, a moving work with a passionate narrative.

Ms. Jansen is one of the world s best-known violinists and most exceptional performers. Her outstanding musicianship, flawless technique, and charismatic artistry win her fans from audiences and critics alike wherever she goes.

Notably, Janine s recording of the Brahms will feature in the soundtrack to the major Dutch film - Public Works - (Publike Werken), released December 10, 2015. The film of a best-selling novel by Thomas Rosenboom, the story follows an Amsterdam violin-maker and his country pharmacist nephew in a tightly-composed historical drama.

Musically exhilarating, Janine s performances of Brahms (with the Orchestra dell Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia) and Bartok (with the London Symphony Orchestra) are new and vital, recorded in vivid high-definition sound.

Brahms only violin concerto was rapturously received by the public when premiered; with rugged outer movements (the last with an exuberant gypsy theme), the famous inner Adagio is exquisite, proffering an intimacy few composers can create. A work which makes considerable demands on the soloist, it clearly demonstrates the depth and warmth of the relationship between composer and dedicatee (Joachim).

Bartok wrote his first violin concerto whilst enraptured by the violinist Stefi Geyer, to whom he dedicated the work. Written from the heart, the first movement of this late-Romantic work shows a radiant conception of Bartok s love, whilst the second movement paints a more exuberant portrait of Geyer.

Since making her debut recording in 2004 for Decca, Janine Jansen has been a top-selling artist with more than 700,000 sales to her credit.
