1, If the tool's plates are still a bit of a distance away from engaging the caliper and piston,
you need to manually squeeze the plates together a bit in order for the ratchet to catch.
You can hold them there with a sheet metal piston holder that you can get from many of the Corvette parts houses
2,Works very well when the teeth catch. Makes brake maintenance much easier, much better than using a C clamp to push in the brake piston.
3,With ANY tool that has threads and applies pressure, like a ball joint press or vise,
put some thick automotive grease on the threads. It lubricates and adds a thin barrier
against pressure wear on the threads, and extends the life of your tool significantly!
