Cascara is the dried outer fruit of the coffee bean and can be steeped much like a loose leaf tea to make a delicious beverage with flavor similarities to apple cider and hibiscus tea

Great both hot and cold. Tasting notes include hints of raisin and peach (No flavors are added. These are simply flavor impressions)

To brew: For every gram of cascara use 20 grams of water. Steep like loose leaf tea for 5-7 minutes with water at approx. 200 F. If you don't have a way to measure grams you can estimate by using 2 Tablespoons of cascara for 10-11 ounces of water (enough for a typical mug). Brews well in a small French press too.

Cascara is traditionally used to make spiced drinks like Bolivian Sultana and Yemeni Qishr. It is considered a superfruit by some because of the naturally occurring antioxidant properties of coffee cherries.

Lower in caffeine than coffee: Brewed cascara tea has about 1/4 to 1/8 the caffeine content of brewed coffee depending on the type of coffee, brew time etc.
