Landing, craft, vehicle, personnel (lcvp) or Higgins boat is a type of boat used during world War II and later, for transport and landing of supplies, small vehicles and soldiers. They were used on a mass scale during D-Day (June 6, 1944), operation torch in North Africa, and in the fighting in the Pacific at the Battle of Guadalcanal, Gilbert Island, Philippines, iwo Jima and Okinawa. The barge was designed by Andrew Higgins and various manufacturers have created over 20, 000 units. Most of the construction was built mainly of wooden plywood, which meant that the boat was very cheap and simple to create, extremely light, but at the same time did not give any protection against enemy fire. Thanks to a flat bottom, a special dropped front ramp and a drive cover, it could reach anyone, even a very shallow bank. It could take on board a 36-platoon army or a small vehicle, e.G.
