The tin whistle (sometimes called pennywhistle or simply whistle) is asmall 6-holed flute, that in its present form dates from the 19thcentury. Because of its affordable price and ease of use it is the mostcommon folk instrument in Ireland, and is often the instrument of choice for beginners and children.
