If you€re looking for some added safety for elderly or sick family members who may fall out of bed, these rails can help. You insert the cross bars between the mattress and box spring then attach the rails to it. The rails are 19 inches tall from the base of the mattress. If you have an extra thick mattress, the rails€ clearance above the mattress will be lower. To determine how high they will be above your mattress, subtract your mattress depth from 19 inches. Two bed rails are included. These bed rails can also be extended for use on full or queen-size beds by using the DMI Metal Bed Rail Extension Bars, item #551-1965-1900 (sold separately).
