Both wise and wisecracking, Jiminy Cricket was first seen in Walt Disneyâ€™s Pinocchio (1940). In the animated classic, jaunty Jiminy was appointed as the wooden puppetâ€™s conscience by the Blue Fairy who brought Pinocchio to life. In this hand painted piece, designed by noted folk artist Jim Shore, the conscientious cricket proudly displays his screen-accurate Official Conscience badge, awarded to him by the Blue Fairy for being loyal to Pinocchio through all kinds of adventure. Nattily clad in his classic costume, including signature top hat, umbrella and spats, this cute-as-a-bug fellow is embellished with folk art-inspired patterning and decorative motifs such as those found in handmade crafts.
