Dual Electric Fan Relay Kit - 40 AMP Waterproof Relay & Harness with Thermostat & Temperature Switch (185°F On / 175°F Off) - Universal Radiator Cooling Fan Installation Kit for Trucks Cars RVs Boats
Directly replace components suitable for 10, 12, 14, and 16 inch cooling fans, Red to 12VDC positive battery terminal, coffee to fan forward, black to sending unit, gray to ignition, wiring diagram included and it is very clear and easy to install.
The provided temperature switch—featuring a 3/8-inch NPT sensor thread and a 1/2-inch adapter—is set to activate the fan at approximately 185°F and deactivate it at 175°F. This setting is intentional, but it relies on the engine's operating temperature being governed by the lower 160°F thermostat. If a higher-rated thermostat (e.g., 180°F) is used, the engine will not cool below the switch's 175°F cutoff, causing the fan to run continuously and potentially leading to insufficient cooling.
This electric cooling fan kit includes everything you need, including wiring diagram ×1, 40A Waterproof relay with wiring harness ×2, 3/8" Temperature Switch (185°F ON / 175°F OFF) ×1, 3/8" to 1/2" Adapter ×1, Connector for Temperature Switch×1, Inline Waterproof Fuse Holder ×2, Fuse Assortment: 15A Fuse (for low-profile fans) ×2, 20A Fuse (for mid-profile fans) ×2, 30A Fuse (for high-profile fans) ×2, Ring Terminal (Heat-Shrinkable) ×8, Wire Connector (Heat-Shrink) ×4.
For the switch to function, it must achieve electrical ground through its threaded connection to the engine, and the engine itself must be properly grounded. This relay kit is sufficient to power two medium- or low-profile cooling fans. For high-performance fans, you can use a heavy-duty relay kit P/N 30247. Alternatively, you may crimp/solder larger-gauge wires for pins 30 and 87 to handle the required load for the fans (10-gauge wire – 30 amps).
If you want to turn on the fan when the A/C compressor is activated, an additional relay kit is required. Follow these steps:Connect the RED wire (Pin 30) from the A/C relay to the BLACK wire (Sender Unit) in the original fan relay harness; Connect both the GREY wire (Pin 86) and the COFFEE/BROWN wire (Pin 87) from the A/C relay to a ground; Connect the BLACK wire (Pin 85) from the A/C relay to the +12V signal on the A/C compressor clutch wire.
