If you have a sand area, it is likely you need to sift debris from the sand to keep it clean. You can make your own sifting fork or just purchase this no-frills sand rake. Our experience shows that it would be difficult to build the identical product yourself for less. Our rake is based on our successful Equi-tee manure fork, but is especially designed for the sifting purpose. It has a custom formed screen, which is secured with rivets to integral mounting tabs. It has a unique ergonomic grip to make working easier too. Do it yourself units require sourcing and buying the parts, cutting and tying the bits together and hours of your time and you would have spent nearly as much. This is the manual version of the Shake'n Rake for smaller cleaning duties. A 1/4" screened mesh sifts fine debris, but the sand must be BONE DRY to sift though. Comparatively low cost makes it a great value for sifting your sand. PLEASE READ!! Sand is VERY difficult to sift. If there is any moisture, the sand will compact and will NOT fall through the screen, regardless of how vigorously it is agitated. Generally only the top inch or two of sand can be cleaned. It is not a shovel and will not dig deeper. Sand is surprisingly heavy and only a small portion can be sifted at a time. If you have a small area, with mostly dry sand and the debris is on the surface, then this screened rake is very effective. However; it has limitations because of the effort required for the human to agitate it.
