Product Description

Fame Singles V1: 1966 - 1970

The next step of our adventure through the Fame Records catalogue focuses on the singles of Clarence Carter, Fame's biggest star. His 45s from this period were issued on Fame, Atlantic and United Artists. For the first time ever we bring together every A and B-side he recorded for Rick Hall.

The first volume covers the singles released between 1966-1970, including the million-selling Slip Away and five other top ten R&B hits including Too Weak To Fight and Snatching It Back. It also includes classic southern R&B dancers Looking For A Fox, Tell Daddy and Thread The Needle.

Clarence is backed on many of these records by the classic first Fame rhythm section of Roger Hawkins, David Hood, Jimmy Johnson, and Barry Beckett; every track is produced by Rick Hall. All but the sadly departed Beckett gave exclusive interviews about Clarence Carter for the sleeve notes.

Access to the Fame tape archive means that these recordings have never sounded better. Privileged access to their photo library gives us a complete 1968 session which provides a stunning cover image and illustrations for the booklet.
