The Contemporary Physics Education Project (CPEP) is a world wide, non profit consortium of teacher educators and physicists. CPEP-developed materials seek to disseminate current understanding of the fundamental nature of matter and energy, incorporating the major research findings of recent years. Developed by the Fusion and Plasmas Group of the CPEP, Fusion presents up-to-date information on plasma physics and fusion reactions, examples of solar and terrestrial fusion reactions, explains how Einstein's famous E=mc2 describes the process of fusion and offers illustrations of everyday and exotic plasmas. Students will be able to compare the energy released in a variety of conversion processes, including combustion, fission and fusion. Part of the CPEP series, see the other charts on Nuclear Physics, and Plasma Physics, and the History and Fate of the Universe.
