Grenada Ghost is a murder mystery. Lyle Gordon, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, “translates the concise imagery of the Caribbean tongue” to Constance Wagner, the American reporter, when they dance in the Labor Day Carnival band in Brooklyn. A member of the Grenada Ghost carnival band dances for a prize with murder on the mind. Tidbits of our lives on the American stage come to the fore in Grenada Ghost, and the foibles and hypocrisy of polite societies are rampant in Lloyd Hollis Crooks’s controversial work.
