Classically trained in rural Essex, England, Imogen Heap emerged as the next great iconoclastic female performer, a lineage that includes Patti Smith, Kate Bush, Annie Lennox, Bj”rk and Liz Phair. Her deft blends of electronic grooves and engaging melodies caught the ears of Almo Sounds (the new venture from A&M founders Herb Alpert & Jerry Moss), who released her debut album I Megaphone in 1998. Following a stint in the group Frou Frou the duo she formed with I Megaphone producer Guy Sigsworth she returned in 2005 with the release of her sophomore solo album, Speak For Yourself.
