Instruments
For more than a decade, Henrik Schwarz has been one of the most-respected House music producers and sought-after remixer, working with Mary J. Blige, Ane Brun and Coldplay to name a few. Recently, he has worked on an increasing number of cross-genre projects, writing the music for a silent film, working with the Berlin State Ballet and recording with leading jazzmen Bugge Wesseltoft and Dan Berglund. For the last two years, Schwarz worked on developing an innovative approach to transfer his personal aesthetics of modern techno productions into acoustic chamber music.
Instruments, Schwarz's new album, features six of his electronic dance music hits and one new composition arranged for classical instruments. The songs were recorded strictly acoustic, without the backbone of any electronic instruments, making the pureness and elegance of wood, brass, strings and percussion transporting. Schwarz's long-time set-opener, Walk Music, offers a magical combination of single, lyrical notes from the strings and mysterious vibraphone in the background. "Marvin" literally sprouts from a single note that is constantly repeated while the bass flute, viola and cello evolve with a rhythmic energy. The new composition, "In Björndal," radiates a curious and seductive melancholy magic. The result is a new kind of music that manages to transfer the energy of electronic dance music to the Classical concert hall with the bass drum only present in the listener's head.
