The line infantry was the backbone of Napoleon's Grande ArmÃ©e. The â€œshakoâ€ headgear adopted in 1806, replacing bicorn hats, and the Charleville 1777 musket, are the most characteristic elements of French line infantry. The equipment was completed by the briquet, a sort of infantry shortsword. The kit also includes the regiment's drummer and the â€œeagle-bearerâ€ carrying the regiment's insignia.
