- As the pilot pin retracts into the cutter during the cut it introduces lubrication to the cutting teeth and reduces heat gain in slug
- Pilot pin helps eject the slug after the cutting operation is complete
- Jancy pilot pins are made of hardened M-2 tool steel providing long life and can be used over the life of several cutters
Jancy pilot pins are a very important part of the holemaking process to improve life of the cutter. The pilot acts as a needle valve in the cutter allowing coolant flow to the center of the tool getting cutting fluid to the cutting teeth and cooling the slug. While spraying coolant to the outside of the cutter can help in the cutting operation, it is often thrown out before it has a chance to get to the cutter teeth. Jancy drilling systems have coolant delivery systems to provide optimum coolant throughout the entire cutting operation.
