Hand built in the USA, designed and tested by Veterinary Orthopedic Surgeons, the K9 Carts dog wheelchair is the product of over 50 years experience by the originators of pet mobility. Can be used as a walking cart (with rear paws on the ground) or as suspension (with rear legs held up in protective slings). Cable leg rings are covered with contoured, dense foam padding to prevent pressure sores and give pelvic support. Pets in need of the Rear Support Dog Wheelchair have weakness in the rear legs, good strength in the front legs while using the Towel Test (see below), and the desire to be active. These pets can walk normally with their front legs, and only experience rear limb weakness or paralysis. Every K9 Cart is custom built in the USA, fully adjustable, guaranteed to fit, and ships within 1-3 business days. Forelimb Strength & the Towel Test: Your pet must be able to walk strongly on its front legs, with its back held in a level position. Use the "towel test" to determine whether or not the above is possible. If you have a small dog or cat we suggest you take an old towel, cut two holes in it, and place the legs through the holes. Remembering to keep the back level, see if your pet will walk normally. This action simulates our cart support system. If you have a large dog, a towel under each hind leg is an easier way to do the "towel test". Signs of Forelimb Weakness Include: *Stumbling or knuckling with one or both front paws. *Short, choppy steps or crossing over of the front paws. *Splaying front legs out wide to maintain balance. *Taking a few steps and stopping or laying back on the front legs.
