Kindergarten Reading LP Vowels

Vowels includes 144 challenges: 12 cards with 12 challenges on each card. Each card is SELF-CORRECTING. These cards help children: auditory discrimination, visual discrimination, letter recognition, and letter-sound correspondence. The activities on the cards progress in this order: Card 1 - short vowel sounds - a & i Card 2 - short vowel sounds - o & e Card 3 - short vowel sounds - u & i Card 4 - review of short vowel sounds - a, i, o Card 5 - review of short vowel sounds - u, e, a Card 6 - review of short vowel sounds - a, e, i, o, u Card 7 - long vowel sounds - a & i Card 8 - long vowel sounds - o & e Card 9 - long vowel sounds - u & i Card 10 - review of long vowel sounds - a, i, o Card 11 -review of long vowel sounds - e, a Card 12 - review of long vowel sounds - a, e, i, o, u This set of cards gives children practice in identifying vowel sounds. To complete a card, children look at a picture and listen for the vowel sound as they name the picture. Then children match the sound with the written letter. Understanding the correspondence between letter and sounds is the basis of phonics instruction and helps children recognize familiar words and decode new words.
