Our Constitution isn't just a 200-year-old document written by men in powdered wigs and knee breeches. It's a living guide for today! This Curriculum will answer the questions: What does the Constitution say? What were our founders' intentions? How is it being interpreted to shape American life today? This class Gaining a deeper understanding of this important document will challenge the student through the introduction of Michael Farris's acclaimed DVD series on the constitution along with the interactive workbook including pertinent vocabulary, study questions, and writing assignments to help students understand what makes the Constitution an invaluable document begging for our understanding.
These are the lesson plans using primarily the Constitutional Literacy Curriculum written by Michael Farris. Below you will find a list of all the books and DVDâ€™s used fully in these lesson plans rounding-out this high school course suited for 9th-12th graders and administers a Â½ credit for government studies on a transcript if home-schooled. It is written to be completed in a 3-4 month period at an accelerated and well-planned out pace requiring about 45 minutes a day to an hour. Included is 1 day of instructional teaching topics, on Tuesdays, and 4 days of reading assignments to be done independently and gone over by instructor the following week. (note: this is not the full curriculum but only the plans for the course.)
Understanding the document in which the United States of America is founded on is key to maintaining the health of the heart supporting this country. I personally hope the information gained through this course will spur students to invest in a positive direction in their own communities.
