The LÃ©gÃ¨re European Scrape Oboe reeds have been specifically designed to work for instruments and players that have used European scrape cane reeds in the past.Â Players accustomed to American scrape reeds may find this oboe reed to be too resistant or otherwise less than ideal.Â Legere is developing an American scrape reed in collaboration with some very prominent players in the US, but it is not ready for release, and they do not have a target date. At present, Legere is only making oboe reeds in one strength, and they do not recommend scraping or adjusting LÃ©gÃ¨re reeds in any way. Legere uses an o-ring system to ensure a good fit between the reed and the well, but this system is a bit less flexible than conventional cork.Â Some players have had fit issues with older instruments, but these reeds should fit most oboe wells. Legere recommends that you visit a shop in person to make sure that their reeds are right for you. Special Note: Double reeds do not qualify for our "Exchange of Strength" policy.Â They will, of course, replace a reed in the unlikely event of a manufacturing defect or shipping damage, but exchanges are considered on a case by case basis.
