Gold fill is identical in look, is of comparable quality, and is about 1/5th the cost of solid 14k (a $30 gold filled charm would be roughly $150 in solid 14k). It is 100x thicker than gold plate, does not flake or wear off, and is much more valuable and tarnish resistant. VERMEIL is a thick layer of 24k gold permanently bonded to solid sterling silver.
