Following on acclaimed releases of BellÃ©rophon, PhaÃ©ton, Amadis and Armide, Christophe Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques continue their revival of Lully's tragÃ©dies lyriques with Alceste. This masterpiece, which tells the story of princess Iolcos and her rescue from the underworld, was premiered by the Paris Opera in 1674 at the ThÃ©atre du Palais-Royal.
