Lully: Alceste

Following on acclaimed releases of Bellérophon, Phaéton, Amadis and Armide, Christophe Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques continue their revival of Lully's tragédies lyriques with Alceste. This masterpiece, which tells the story of princess Iolcos and her rescue from the underworld, was premiered by the Paris Opera in 1674 at the Théatre du Palais-Royal.
