Cutter/splitter will work on small oval pills and open without difficulty. Patience is key. ; )
1) Line up the small oval pill horizontally within the pill guide edges (triangle shape). Don't push the pill in or the sides of the guide will bend and move your pill. Just ease it in straight across.
2) Then without bumping the splitter, gently close the top and snap it shut. Your pill will be cut in equal halves. If you have a score line on the pill, use that as your guide for positioning the pill straight. If you pull the pill in vertically, it will still cut, however it is more apt to splinter more due to the oval shape.
3) To open the box, it easier to firmly hold each side near the base of the opening and then pull the top open. Opened easier that way then holding further down.
4) The pill holder mechanism falls out sometimes when you are holding it upside down to get the dust from cutting the pills out, and then you need to find that tiny part to put it back in the cutter.
