Description

  • A photoelectric sensor is an electronic device that uses light to detect the presence, absence, distance, or characteristics of an object. It works by emitting a light beam and analyze how the light interacts with the target object. These sensors are widely used in industrial automation, manufacturing, and safety systems due to their non-contact operation, reliability, and versatility.

  • PNP NO (Normally Open): The PNP transistor starts off (output open, no current). When detecting an object, it turns on, sourcing current from the positive supply to the load. Common in systems requiring a "high signal" on detection.
  • To use a photoelectric sensor: Mount and align it so the light beam hits the target. Wire it correctly (NPN = connects to ground, PNP = connects to +V). Adjust sensitivity if needed. Test by blocking the beam—the sensor’s LED or output signal will confirm detection.
  • Keep the sensor clean and avoid bright ambient light that might interrupt the detection result.
