MY FAVORITE 4,212 FACTS - is the third book of my personal collection of facts and this time I must have lost my mind because it is even bigger than my second book. This is the 4,212 pieces I thought were the most interesting and accumulated from years in my trivial pursuit of reading biographies, history and references books as well as searching the Internet and paying attention to the news and generally learning about all I can.
What do Donald Trump (2016), John Quincy Adams (1824), Rutherford Hayes (1876), Benjamin Harrison (1888) and George W. Bush (2000) have in common? Each failed to win the majority of popular vote, but won the U.S. Presidency because of the Electoral College votes.
Tigers in the wild have only an 18% hunting success rate meaning 82% of the time their intended prey escapes. Lions catch their dinner 18% of the time while the cheetah does better at 45%. The cougar / mountain lion / puma brings down an elk or deer about 20% of the time. All of those toothy critters could take lessons from the humble dragonfly and it's boast-worthy 95% catch rate.
You've likely visited a Target store and seen those large red balls lined up in front of the entrance Each one of those red balls is made of concrete and weighs about 2,000 pounds.

The tidbits, trivia and other interesting matters are presented in a semi-commentary humorous style, which is to say a wisecrack is injected here and there. I truly believe trivia and facts are an important and overlooked area in our education.

Hereâ€™s yet another freaking reason why you, me, us and they should stay away from fast food joints. Ready? 51% of people that regularly eat such food are depressed. (You wannaâ€™ burger? In New York City, a woman may appear topless in public (wait for it) so long as it is not for business purposes.
Only because I think it's funny I'll share with you the fact that the first television commercial for 'Charmin' toilet paper was filmed in - Flushing, New York.
