The Japanese call a hook-and-loop fastening system "magic tape" and that's why these reinforced-toe jika-tabi are called "Magic Safety". It's a very practical solution for environments where an easy on/easy off shoe is appropriate. The thin rubber sole is similar to the one used on the Rikio Fighter or Rikio Ansen to provide for a comfortable and balance-oriented barefoot feel. The toe protection is a desirable feature for many situations: training, unbeaten paths, large crowds, stampedes, etc.
